ez-flash IV for GBA SP NDS LIteSet up the EZ Flash IV GBA Card Step by Step User Manual

The EZ Flash IV is the last GBA flash cat that are still in production, but lucky for us it’s also one of the best.
When I got mine a few months ago I could not find a tutorial anywhere, I had to search and email a few O.G. for help.
Many links to tutorial and/or guides was broken or are very old, so I hope a few people will find this guide helpful.
buy ez-flash IV from USA Reseller

What you need:

  • Buy EZ Flash IV from BestR4i3DS.com, USA&Singapore stocks, cheap price fast shipping.
  • mini SD memory card

The EZ4 can only display about 78 roms per directory, but you can have multiple directory if you have a lot of roms. (Thanks FAST6191)
A 1GB mini SD can hold a good amount of roms, and is usually enough for most people.
I know some of you want to use a micro SD to mini SD adapter, but many people have had random detection issues which leads to crashes and other problems. So an adapter is not recommended

1. Insert your mini SD to your computer

2. Download the latest kernel here,

It will come with everything you need except the skinning tool

3. Extract the kernel to your computer. After it’s extracted or unzipped, open it and look for this file ezfla_up.bin. Once you find it copy and paste it into root of your mini SD.
ez-flash_setup_1 ez-flash_setup_24. Now remove your mini SD and put it in the EZ4, then insert the EZ4 in your GBA.

5. Hold the [R] shoulder button and turn on your GBA.
When it’s done turn off your GBA and remove your mini SD and reinsert it into your computer, go ahead and delete the ezfla_up.bin file from your mini SD memory card.

6. Go back to your kernel folder and look for the EZ Client. Double click it and the EZ Client will open.
Next click ‘Config’, and change the “send path” to where your mini SD card is, for me it’s F: Drive.
ez-flash_setup_4ez-flash_setup_57. Each game needs to be patched before you can use it in the EZ4, to do this just click “open” and find your GBA roms. Select the rom you want, than press send. It will send the rom to your mini SD along with a “saver” folder.
Do not drag and drop, your game will not work properly if you do.

The EZ Client can patch more than one rom at a time, this way you don’t have to patch them one at a time.
ez-flash_setup_68. Remove the mini SD card from your PC and insert it into your EZ4, insert the EZ4 into your GBA.
Power on the GBA. It will boot to the EZ4 menu. Select the game you want to play and enjoy.
Helpful tips

  • If everything is in Chinese you can change the language to English.
To change to English just press down, down, down, than (A), (A), than down, than (A).
  • Some games are too big, when you select them you will get one of these message,

  • If you hate the Darth Vader skin like I do, you can change it, the process is the same as when you first flashed the EZ4, just put the ezfla_up.bin in root and update it.

Yes you can delete the ezfla_up.bin file after you’re done.

GATEWAY 3DS 2.2 “OMEGA” Firmware Released

Posted by Ryukouki on May 18, 2014 in Flashcarts News

Today we are very proud to present Gateway 3DS firmware 2.2 “OMEGA” which is packing quite a few of highly anticipated features!

So let’s take a look:

* Online support

That’s right, now you can play online with your friends!

As we hinted in our previous firmware release, the current “scene” dumps are missing critical data which is needed for online support.

Our game card dumper however does create proper dumps, and will allow you to play online.

To play online you will need a game dumped with our Game Card dumper and you must rename the file extension from .3DS to .3DZ in order to avoid accidental activation of online support.

As always, use online play at your own risk. Since online play is linked to a genuine Game Card, we do not recommend that multiple users go online with the same game dump simultaneously as it will most likely result in a future online ban.

We cannot help you if your 3ds console gets banned from online play.

* Homebrew support

It was about time this happened, so now you can develop and run homebrew games and applications just like the real deal!

In particular, we would like to thank smea for his contributions, otherwise none of this would be possible.

You can find a sample homebrew 3ds game in our downloads section, and we hope to see many more!

Note that the ctrulib homebrew library is not yet completely stable, as can be seen in the graphical artifacts and when closing the homebrew application.

* Savegame backup and restore

Some users have requested the ability to backup and restore savegames from retail cards, so here it is!

Simply launch the Gateway menu by holding L and you will see two new icons for savegame backup and restore.

The savegame will be stored on the regular 3DS SD card.

* Improved Game Card Dumper

We fixed a minor bug that caused some Game Cards not to be detected by our dumper. This should now work.

Available in our download section here

Update SuperCard DSTwo on Latest 3DS Firmware Direclty without NDSL,DSi

Posted by Ryukouki on December 12, 2013 in Gaming

buy supercard dstwo from BestR4i3Ds.com

Some players inadvertently updated 3DS console, but the DSTwo card hasn’t updated to latest firmware, then the 3DS system will block you DSTwo card.
At this time, normally, you need a low version NDSL, DSi ro 3DS to update your DSTwo.

But some players only have one 3DS console, how to do now?
Please don’t worry….

These days we get some news on the forum and knows about that the supercard dstwo can be update on an updated 3DS XL, we have tried the method and it turns to be nice, but will take a little time for you to complete it, just make your console has enough power when you want to give it a shot.

Here we go, you should prepare the things below:
Supercard DSTWO,
card reader,
dstwo update patch

Please download the firmware and unzip it,
rename the dstwoupdate.dat file to dstwoupdateb.dat, stick it in the root of your micro sd card.
Try to run the cart and you will get the blocking error message.
Just keep the 3ds on for at least 3-5 mins, and your card will be updated (it uses the power of the 3ds to complete the update, do not turn it off early).
You will not see any progress bar or any notice of the update being completed, when enough time has passed, just turn off your 3ds, DELETE the dstwoupdateb.dat file and turn your 3ds back on .

But only if the Supercard DSTWO has the “ALEX RIDER” icon you can update it on any 3ds with the alternative method.
Take the update file and slap a b in the file name before the extension and then put it in the 3ds boot up your 3ds and boot the ds2 and let it sit on the error screen for a good 5-8 mins as it is updating then reboot and it will work.

We have tried this, and we have update the DSTWO successful, but it takes about the 10 mins.

Well, patience is needed during the updating process and, enough power!
Well, some people hold the other opinion, they think that the DSTwo is one of the only carts that can update without needing to be run normally, but it’s not perfect and should not be relied on.

The best bet is to never update your 3DS first.

All in all, the most important thing we should remember is that, never update your console before update your card.

Review R4i Save Dongle Backup Nintendo 3DS Games from the R4i-SDHC Team

Posted by Ryukouki on November 30, 2013 in Reviews

This is the first save-backup device that is directly compatible with Nintendo 3DS games. Yes, you read that right- Nintendo 3DS games. It isn’t just a save backup device that can ‘run with the 3DS’, but in fact, it can actually backup saves of games such as “Mario Kart 7” and “Super Mario 3D Land” and restore them too, as well as download new save-games from the R4i  Save Dongle save-game archives. There’s so much to do, and for less than US$20.00 on some websites, this little dongle is surely worth the cash. Or is it?
R4i Save Dongle

R4i Save Dongle

The Product

The R4i SaveDongle device which we procured from the R4i-SDHC Team came in a small, no-frills red box. Inside was a flimsy plastic tray with a light fabric effect which housed the very cheap and plasticky R4i Save Dongle device. The box did not contain anything apart from the tray and a rather light, cheap dongle. Hmm.

First Impressions: 6/10

use r4i save dongle to backup nintendo 3ds games

The SaveDongle is secure when attached to a PC
The SaveDongle

The actual product is rather large in comparison to a (3)DS card and is somewhat elliptical in shape. The product feels very cheap and plasticky, and is also very light. There is a small “Upgrade” button on the side of the unit, presumably to upgrade its firmware if Nintendo release a firmware upgrade to block the dongle, which I thought was a nice touch.

The dimensions of the product are horrendous, but all is forgiven once the dongle is plugged into the computer. The dongle clicks into the USB port securely and easily, with very little wobble, as is the card slot where you must insert your DS or 3DS card to back up or restore the game save from it. Again, the card fits in snugly and provides a secure fit.

So far, you shouldn’t really buy it for the looks, but then, why would you? It’s only got one purpose, and that’s to save games.

First Impressions: 6.5/10

The Client Software

The software which is used to transfer and receive 3DS/DS game saves from the card that is plugged into the SaveDongle slot (when connected to the computer) is very lightweight and easy to use. After a quick installation, the software presents you with two buttons (PC to Card and Card to PC) which are self-explanatory- the former transfers a save-game from your PC to the corresponding card, and the latter does the opposite and uploads the save-game to your computer, where it can easily be uploaded to the archives (see paragraph 1).

According to certain sources on the internet, the program is prone to crashing and becoming non-respondent frequently. My test copy of the software did not crash at all or become non-respondent, which was strange… but then again, I’m glad it didn’t! The software is newbie-friendly, easy to use and simple to install, with only a few compatibility niggles. So, on the whole, that’s awesome!

First Impressions: 9/10

PASS (Copy TO PC):

  1. Pokemon Diamond/Pearl
  2. Pokemon SoulSilver/HeartGold
  3. Pokemon Black/White
  4. Yoshi’s Island DS
  5. Super Mario 64 DS
  6. Mario Kart DS
  7. Super Mario Land 3DS
  8. Mario Kart 7 3DS
  9. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D 3DS
  10. Pilotwings 3D 3DS

FAIL (Copy to PC):

  1. Warioware D.I.Y (Software does not complete the transfer)

PASS (Copy to Card):

  1. Pokemon Black/White
  2. Yoshi’s Island DS
  3. Super Mario 64 DS
  4. Mario Kart DS

FAIL (Copy to Card and Read):

  1. Pokemon Diamond and Pearl (Corrupted Save)
  2. Pokemon SoulSilver/HeartGold (Corrupted Save)
  3. Warioware D.I.Y (Unable to test as software did not transfer from the card to the PC)
  4. Super Mario Land 3DS (3DS Game Encryption Failure, Corrupted File)
Mario Kart 7 3DS  (3DS Game Encryption Failure, Corrupted File)
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D 3DS  (3DS Game Encryption Failure, Corrupted File)
Pilotwings 3D 3DS   (3DS Game Encryption Failure, Corrupted File)

There are some obvious flaws in the hardware and software, with several high-profile games not transferring to and from the card successfully, which will need to be addressed. For instance, with the latest firmware upgrade for the SaveDongle, the Pokemon games (D/P+ SS/HG) are still not being transferred properly. The dongle did not transfer the 3DS saves properly, and this resulted in several unrecoverable corruptions in the save file. The team, however, did not make clear AT ALL that 3DS saves do not load into the cartridge. Hmm. Every game took >5 minutes to back up a save, or >5 minutes to restore, which was painfully long, considering a save is around 128KB apiece. However, the SaveDongle has a huge list of working backed-up and restored saves, and the online archives make restoring saves easy. But for compatibility, it’s going to be a 6.

First Impressions: 6/10

Buy R4i Save Dongle at best price

All In All

  • The Product 6/10
  • The SaveDongle 6.5/10
  • The Client Software 9/10
  • Compatibility: 6/10

The R4i SaveDongle from the R4i SDHC Team is a budget device that can back-up most DS game saves and 3DS saves and restore them. With save-game technology having evolved from the days of the early DS, it’s very strange how the SaveDongle cannot restore Pokemon save-games or even first-party Nintendo titles like Warioware D.I.Y. The nice little thing with the dongle that sets it apart from its competitors is its 3DS compatibility, which seems to be flawless as far as we’re concerned.

So in conclusion, you get what you pay for. For under a tenner, you get a dongle that can save and backup the majority of games and can be upgraded should Nintendo try to disable it. You get access to an online save-game archive file host too. Nothing more, nothing less. The dongle does the job, just like the other devices the R4i-SDHC Team manufacture for the general public- budget products at a budget price that do a helluva lot for your cash!

All in all, the R4i SaveDongle receives a:
